LONDON, Ont. - McGill's Sébastien Flynn finished eighth of 94 runners at the 34th annual Western International cross-country running meet in London, Saturday.

It was the team's second straight top performance from Flynn, a 5-foot-7, 158-pound arts sophomore from Dartmouth, N.S., who also led the Redmen at the McGill Open, where he placed third overall.

Flynn completed the men's 10-kilometre circuit at the Thames Valley Golf Club in 33 minutes, 32 seconds. Windsor's Dave Weston finished first overall in 32:48. he was followed on the medal podium by Matt Hulse of Queen's (32:59) and Kyle O'Neil of the Western Mustangs (33:01).

Guelph won the team scoring title with 44 points, based on runners that finished fourth, sixth, seventh, 13th and 14th, respectively. McGill ended up sixth of nine teams with 171 points, placing runners in 8th, 36th, 37th, 42nd and 48th.

On the women's side, the top McGill performer, for the second straight competition, was Brittany Therrien, an arts freshman from Victoria, B.C., who placed 16th of 115 runners and was clocked at 19:09 in the 5k race. Guelph's Lindsay Carson won the event in 17:19, followed by Tamara Jewett from U of T (17:48) and he teammate Erin McClure (18:12).

The Martlets were seventh of 12 teams with 160 points, placing 16th, 21st, 35th, 42nd and 46th overall. Guelph won the team scoring with 31 points.
